inspired by...

My girlfriend Amy recently made these and upon hearing what she was bringing to a party,
I must admit...I wasn't terribly excited...(sorry Ams...)
only because I generally DISPISE bacon wrapped anything...
it just plain grosses me out that people would wrap something in bacon...*barf*

Now...don't get me wrong...I LOVE bacon.
Just meat wrapped in bacon...sick...seriously...the thought made me gag.

Ok, now upon knowing that about me, (cause I am sure you really wanted to;)
 I about DIED a happy bacon wrapped scallop death upon trying these...a MUST for any scallop lover!

{thanks Amy}

We used sea scallops that were about 1.5 inches and took pre-cooked bacon and wrapped them around the scallops. Then, we used tookthpicks to secure them, like shown.

Next, sprinkle the scallops with a little sea salt and cook them on a pan for about 3-4 minutes each side until they get nice and brown.

For the dipping sauce, we just used 1 tbsp of Cayenne Habanero Sauce from All Spice Cafe and mixed it with 3 tbsp light mayo. The mayo helps reduce the amount of heat, and also gives it a creamy texture.

The texture of the scallops and the saltiness of the bacon work so well together. It's not difficult to make and doesn't take a lot of time to prep. These are definitely perfect finger food that is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

This receipe was taken from: http://www.thefoodaddicts.com/ (not my friend Amy...) but, basically this was it!
My hubby & I made the habanero dipping sauce last night with some chopped jalapenos and had it with just plain sauteed scallops and enjoyed it!
I am in love with scallops just plain...but the dipping sauce adds a bit of variety for an app!
Enjoy!

  1. Ha! I think "bacon wrapped" sounds delicious! I wish I liked scallops, though. I've never been able to make myself like seafood. These look really tasty.
